01. Fernao Magalhaes Suite

Named after the famed maritime explorer that circumnavigated the world for the first time, the Fernão Magalhães Suite is located in the first floor in the western Muslim tower.

This original duplex offers one inner hall with original roman ceilings. On the upper floor a small living room with a relaxation area and a working desk overlook the Pateo. An elegant marble bathroom and a spacious twin bedded bedroom complete this amazing suite.

02. Alvaro de Campos Suite

Alvaro de Campos Suite was named after another heteronymus of Fernando Pessoa, the famous 20th century portuguese writer who wrote in 1923 among other poetries the " Lisboa Revisitade ".

This suite has no access from the inside of the Palacio and has been specialy equiped for wheelchaired guests. All services are provided within the room for our guests. The Alvaro de Campos suite is a very luminous room with 4 windows facing the Pateo da Baixa and overlooking the Pantheon and the monastery of Sao Vincente de Fora. Decorated with a king size bed, baroque style, painted in an old red with gold flames. The bathroom in gres porcelanico, grey black is of classical style. Paintings by portuguese's contemporary artists. Alvaro de Campos is one of our Belmonte Suites.

06. Agostinho da Silva Suite

The Agostinho da Silva Suite was named after a contemporary Portuguese philosopher. The suite is located on the 3rd floor of the Palácio. This suite transmits a feeling of intimacy and quietness, as it has no particular view.

Its main feature is precisely its isolation from everything, besides a few 18th century tile panels, and an original wooden cupboard with inner oil painting dated from the same period.

It is composed of an entrance hall, a bedroom and ensuite bathroom. It is a very richly antique decorated suite. It has an immense mirror dated from the 18th century, a foldable table and two "comodas" from Joao V, a wall candleholder, large oil canvas by Claude Guichard, two dravings 1870, one sanguine stydy by a scholar 18th century. One very nice carpet and a large vasque in alabaster. The bathroom is entirely in Portuguese « White Estremoz » marble.

The colors of the suite play around browns with salvage silk and blue leather chairs.

04. Fernão Mendes Pinto Suite

This suite was named after Fernão Mendes Pinto, a 15th century Portuguese traveler and chronist.

The Fernão Mendes Pinto suite is located on the 2 and half floor of the Palácio, facing east. It transmits a feeling of privacy, and is ideal for executives traveling alone, as it is a junior suite, with an inner room, bedroom and bathroom.

The bathroom is entirely tiled with another portuguese type of marble,the "viana verde"; the entrance of the bathroom constituted of part of the roman tower wall shows an enormous signature of Jean Cocteau ,remains of the earthquake of 1755. The suite is painted in blue and white ,associated to a very tonic, yellow salvage silk.

It features an original letter dates 1817 signed by D. João VI,King of Portugal Of the Algarves,emperor of Brazil , while 14. An 18th century table painted black, a rare 18th century golden lamp in wood with two angels.Paintings by The view from this suite is spectacular, Alfama and its churches, the Tejo river southeast.

08. Gil Vicente Suite

Gil Vicente Suite was named after the famous 16th century Renaissance Portuguese writer, who was also the father of Portuguese theatre, and jeweler. His most known literature piece is the ‘‘Auto da Barca do Inferno''. The Gil Vicente suite is located on the 2nd floor of the Palacio, on the Northwest corner, adjacent to one of the Muslim towers, and to the Cerca da Alcaçova. It transmits a feeling of nature and lightness, due to its inner winter garden.

Its the largest suite, due to its winter garden with a glass ceiling and its two terraces. It also has one living room with fireplace, one bedroom with a king size bed, a bathroom featuring Portuguese "white Estremoz" marble. To access the top terraces, one floor above, one has to.

The decoration of the suite is simple but tasteful, two XVIIth century antique writing tables, all the decor has been conceived around spices in brunches, in cases, in cushions on the scuted chair of the bathroom and the portuguese discoveries. An african sculpture, a kimono box from the XVIIIth (Portugueses have lived almost 200 years in Japan).

A map of Brazil XVIII century. The natural ventilation is operated through 5 small windows linked to the SAGAÕ (Kind of small, not accessible, private street). Climb the remains of an original Muslim Tower staircase. The whole suite is in very light green, predominantly white. The view from the bedroom overlooking the Pateo Dom Fradique de Cima, and the river Tagus. The view from the highest terrace is even more outstanding. It overlooks southwest, and being on one of the highest points of the Palácio and Lisbon city, the south band of the river. Guest may ask for private diners in the winter garden.
